KROGMAN'S OLD MASTER

LAWRENCEBURG, INDIANA

In the middle of the 19th century, cities along the Ohio river began populating with Swiss and German immigrants seeking opportunity. Many of these immigrants would have been familiar with distillation in their native countries.

August Krogman, one such immigrant, settled in Perry County Indiana, working for some years in the coal mines, then risking $5000 with a partner to build Indiana’s second only distillery.

In 1863 the distillery was constructed and began production of bourbon, whiskey, and various brandies.
